Privacy policy
What we collect, what we do not, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Last updated November 8, 2026
This policy covers Rideontoy Guide at https://rideontoyguide.com, published by Iron Mako Media. It describes what information we collect when you visit, why, and what control you have over it.
Summary
The short version
- We do not ask you to create an account and there is nothing to log in to.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read. It is configured for aggregate reporting.
- If you submit the contact form, we receive your name, email and message, and nothing else.
- Affiliate links set cookies belonging to Amazon when you click them, not to us.
- We do not sell, rent or share your personal information.
Collection
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which buy links are clicked. This data is aggregated and we use it to decide what to write next — a page nobody reads is a page we should have written differently.
Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data including a truncated IP address, device and browser type, approximate geographic region, and the pages you view. We do not use it to identify individuals and we have not enabled advertising personalization features. Google’s own description of this processing is in its privacy policy, and you can opt out across all sites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Contact form
If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address, optional subject and message you type, along with the time of submission. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. It is delivered to our email and retained there; we do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not have one.
Spam protection
The contact form checks three things to block automated submissions: a hidden field that only a bot would fill, how long the form took to complete, and how many submissions have come from your IP address in the past hour. The IP address is held in server memory for that purpose only and is not written to a database or logged against your submission.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard request information — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — as part of operating the site. We do not use these logs for analytics or profiling.
Affiliate links
What happens when you click a buy link
Buy links on this site route through our own domain and then redirect to Amazon with our tracking identifier attached. We record that a click happened and which page it came from. We do not receive your name, your Amazon account details, or what you ultimately bought — only aggregate commission reporting from Amazon.
Once you arrive at Amazon you are subject to Amazon’s privacy practices rather than ours, including any cookies they set. Full detail on how our links work is on our affiliate disclosure.
Not collected
What we do not do
- No accounts. There is nothing to register for and no password to store.
- No newsletter. We do not operate a mailing list, so there is nothing to subscribe to or be added to.
- No advertising networks. We serve no display ads and run no retargeting pixels.
- No selling or sharing. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except as needed to deliver the site (our host) or to reply to you (our email provider).
- No data from children. This site is written for parents and grandparents. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we have no feature that would invite a child to submit any. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies
We set no cookies of our own. The cookies present when you visit come from Google Analytics, and from Amazon if you click a buy link.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking Google Analytics cookies will not affect how the site works — nothing on this site requires them.
Your rights
What you can ask us to do
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to it. If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights including access, deletion and the right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you similar rights including data portability.
In practice, the personal information we hold about any individual is almost always just a contact-form message. To ask for a copy or for it to be deleted, email contact@rideontoyguide.com and we will act on it. We will not charge you and we will not ask you to justify the request.
Retention
How long we keep things
Contact-form messages are kept while the conversation is useful and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ configured retention period. Server logs are retained by our host for their standard operational period.
Changes
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the last-updated date at the top. If a change is material — adding an advertising network, say, which we have no plan to do — we will say so plainly rather than burying it.
