About Iron Mako Media

A buyer's guide to kids' ride-on toys, built on the idea that the numbers should be right, sourced and the same on every page.

Who

Who writes this

Rideontoy Guide is written and published by Mike M., the owner of Iron Mako Media. Every page on the site carries his byline because he writes all of them.

We should be straightforward about what that does and does not mean. We do not run a product testing lab. We have not driven these vehicles, we do not own a fleet of them, and we are not going to tell you we spent six weeks with any of them. Several sites competing for the same searches do make claims like that, and when we looked closely at ten of the pages currently ranking for the main terms in this category, nine of them either contradicted themselves on the basic specifications or omitted them entirely — which is difficult to square with having tested anything.

What we do instead is read every listing properly, hold every figure in one place so it cannot drift, publish the scoring rubric, and say plainly where each number came from. That is a method you can check, which a testing claim is not.

Method

The nine-specification standard

Every product on this site is compared on the same nine fields, in the same order, on every page it appears on:

  1. Voltage
  2. Battery capacity in amp-hours
  3. Top speed
  4. Weight limit
  5. Run time
  6. Charge time
  7. Parent remote
  8. Seats
  9. The manufacturer’s own stated age range

Each figure comes from that model’s own published specifications on its current live listing. Where a manufacturer does not publish one, the row reads not stated by maker rather than carrying our estimate.

That last point does more work than anything else on the site. Run time and charge time are the two most commonly omitted specifications, and amp-hour capacity is missing from roughly two listings in three. Printing the gap tells you something the competition hides: what the seller chose not to tell you. The full method is on how we pick.

Prices

Live, dated, and they expire

Prices on this site come from Amazon at the time of our last check and carry that date. As of November 8, 2026 we are showing live prices for 126 products.

They also expire. If the daily price check stops running, every number on the site disappears after 48 hours and the pages revert to “check price”. That is deliberate: the failure mode we want is silence rather than a stale claim, and it means a price you see here has been verified within two days.

Scope

What is on the site

94 pages covering 126 products: Power Wheels and 12V/24V electric cars, ATVs, dirt bikes, trucks and tractors, plus the replacement batteries, chargers and parts that keep them running. Sorted by the way people actually shop — by the child’s age first, then voltage, feature and body style.

If you are starting from scratch, the age and size chart is the right first page: it converts your child’s current weight into the band to shop in, and weight rather than age is what actually decides whether a ride-on fits.

Funding

How this is paid for

Rideontoy Guide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

When you buy through a link here, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change which products we pick or what we say about them, and the rubric is published so you can check how a ranking was reached. Several products on this site are recommended against in their own entries, and several roundups name a cheaper rival as the better buy. Full detail on our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy.

Independence

What we are not

Rideontoy Guide is an independent buyer’s guide. We are not affiliated with Fisher-Price, Power Wheels, Peg Perego, Kid Trax, Radio Flyer, Razor, Best Choice Products or any other manufacturer named on this site. Brand names are used for identification only, and no manufacturer has paid for, reviewed or influenced anything published here.
